Wind direction @ Ivinghoe
« on: January 19, 2011, 09:11:27 AM »
Hello,

I am looking at heading up to Ivinghoe this w/end (sunday)

Does anyone know if the slopes will support the predicted NW wind?

Slopehunter seams to list the hill in the NW section.. but does not meantion NW in the description :-)

Rob

Yes NW is not a problem. The beacon where the trig point is will take W, NW and N.

But you'll be wanting a bit more wind than there was today!
It was 7mph and I could just keep a wildthing and my Fiu aloft by working very hard. As soon as the wind dropped to less than 7 game over in 20 seconds.
Mind you it still beat working. ;)

I think the forecast is N or NNE?  You'll be flying the north face I reckon.  Wrap up warm, that wind will be coming straight off the arctic circle!

if its NNE or NE then be aware that there are 2 flyable slopes. Most will fly the car park slope as this doesn't require any walking ! can be a problem with freq control.

How did it go at Ivinghoe today?  Which bit did you fly from and how was it?

Hello

Had a great day on the slope by the car park.

I had my fleet out and got to fly everything... So all up have ended the day happy... Just a little cold!

There where 5 other flyers out today, so a good turn out all round!

I flew my Speedo for the first time today too; what a great model this is, good price... And superb performance all round.

Thanks all for a great day.

Rob
