Been a catostophic year for the passing of greats in the model world. Sad to say that John Shaw has now joined that list of irreplacable modellers. He with his great friend Neil Webb plus Chris Tompkins who is still with us, were instrimental in the promotion of Thermal Soaring in the UK culminating in the F3j class in 1998.
They under the guise of the FACCT club ran lots of thermal comps up to the middle of the last decade. John was one of the original supporters and instigators of BARCS, when the SMAE/BMFA had little interest in soaring in this country, as his membership number of10 would indicate.
Will miss the quiet chats from a true gent

Very sad news.
A very sad loss indeed., John will be sorely missed at our club where in his role as chairman and more recently vice chairman he worked tirelessly behind the scenes with all things to do with our site and with the BMFA.
